It is no secret that Ford Motor Company is considering its re-entry in the fast growing Indian auto industry. The company has cancelled sale of its Chennai-based plant to JSW Group. Adding to it, Ford has filed trademarks for the new Endeavour and Mach-E electric crossover. Moreover, the design patent of an all-new mid-sized SUV has also been leaked on the Internet. Now, Ford Endeavour and the new Ford Ranger have been spotted on a flatbed truck in India.
The latest gen Ford Ranger pickup was caught alongside the new Endeavour on the outskirts of Chennai. For people not in the know, the Endeavour is sold as the Ford Everest SUV in several international markets. The new Ranger and Endeavour share several components including the ladder-on-frame chassis, design highlights and interior.
The Ford Ranger pickup directly rivals the likes of the Toyota Hilux, the Isuzu D-Max, the Volkswagen Amarok and the Chevrolet Colorado. The current generation Ford Ranger made its global debut in November 2021. In terms of styling, the new Ranger comes with a revised front grille, flanked by C-shaped LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps, LED tail-lights and Ranger name embossed on the tailgate.
The Ford Ranger is available with multiple petrol and diesel engine options including a 2.0-litre diesel, a 3.0-litre V6 diesel and a 2.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. It also gets a Raptor performance variant that features a 288bhp, 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. The lower-spec versions come with 5-speed or 6-speed manual gearbox options, while the higher trims come with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Raptor has an improved chassis, off-road gear and rugged design elements.
Ford Motor Company is likely to introduce the Endeavour 3-row SUV in the Indian market in 2025. The American automaker could introduce the Ranger pickup as it shares several components from the Endeavour. It will be positioned against the likes of the Toyota Hilux and the Isuzuki D-Max.
