5-Door Mahindra Thar Unveiling On 15th August

So the wait is finally going to be over for all enthusiasts who have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the 5-door Mahindra Thar. The indigenous automaker has confirmed that the lifestyle off-road SUV will make its official debut on the 77th Independence Day, which falls on August 15, 2024. While the company hasn’t yet confirmed its name and details, the model is likely to be called the ‘Mahindra Thar Armada’. The 5-door Mahindra Thar has undergone extensive testing, resulting in numerous spy images and videos being circulated. Read: Upcoming Mahindra Electric SUVs – 4 Names Registered

Compared to its 3-door version, the Thar 5-door will feature a slightly different design and more onboard features. In fact, it will possess even more serious off-road capabilities. The Mahindra Thar 5-door will be built on the ladder frame chassis and share its suspension setup with the Scorpio N. That means it will come equipped with the five-link suspension and frequency-dependent dampers, enhancing its rigidity around corners.

Under the hood, the Mahindra Thar Armada will be powered by the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines sourced from the Scorpio N. The gasoline unit will generate 203bhp of power and 370Nm (MT)/380Nm (AT) of torque. The diesel variant will deliver a peak power of 130bhp with 300Nm and 138bhp with 370Nm (MT)/400Nm (AT). The lifestyle off-road SUV will be available with either a 2WD or 4WD drivetrain system. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will also be offered.

Talking about the features, the Mahindra Thar 5-door will have dual digital screens (one for the 10.25-inch infotainment and one for the instrument cluster). Its center console will be slightly different from the 3-door Thar. Features such as a single-pane sunroof, rear AC vents, leatherette seat upholstery, front and rear centre armrests, push button start and six airbags will also be on offer. If reports are to be believed, the 5-door Mahindra Thar could also be equipped with a 360 degree camera, a dashcam and front parking sensors.
