Citroen has officially announced that the all-new Basalt Vision Coupe-SUV will be launched in India and South America in the second half of 2024. The Citroen Basalt will be the fourth model under the brand’s C-Cubed Programme, joining the C3, eC3 and the C3 Aircross SUV. The company has also released the exterior images, while interior details will be revealed at a later stage.
The new Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe will be produced in India and will also be exported to South American markets. It is built on Stellantis’s CMP (Common Modular Platform), which underpins the C3 twins and the C3 Aircross SUV. The new Basalt will come as a premium model and will directly rival the upcoming Tata Curvv Coupe-SUV.
The new pictures reveal that the Chevrolet Basalt front design is identical to the C3 Aircross. However, the Coupe-SUV has a slightly grille with new inserts and finish. It has a two-part grille, chrome-lined logo at the top and a faux silver skid plate. The big change comes in the form of projector headlamps instead of the halogens in the C3 Aircross & C3 hatchback.
The side profile gives it a more coupe-profile, featuring a tapering roofline. The Coupe-SUV has more squared off wheel arches, new C-pillar that has a new blacked-out extension of the window line, new alloy wheels with a gun metal finish and pull-type door handles. It comes with a short & cleaner rear end that has newly designed tail-lamps with new LED signatures. The SUV Coupe has a dual-tone bumper finished in black and silver.
The Citroen Basalt is likely to measure around 4.3 meters in length, which is similar to the C3 Aircross. The cabin is expected to receive better quality fit & finish, and more features. The Coupe SUV is expected to receive features like powered ORVMs, automatic AC, cruise control, wireless phone charging, push-button start and keyless entry, etc.
The new Citroen Basalt Coupe-SUV will be powered by a 110bhp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
