TVS iQube Soon Get New Variants With Different Battery Capacities

TVS Motor Company currently offers two electric scooters in its product lineup: the X and the iQube, priced from Rs 2,49,990 and Rs 1,26,007, respectively. In the recent Q4FY24 analyst call, KN Radhakrishnan, Director and CEO of TVS Motor Company, announced plans to introduce new models in both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) segments. He also confirmed that the TVS iQube electric scooter model lineup will soon expand with additional variants.

The new iQube variants will feature different battery capacities and be offered at different price points. At present, the iQube is avialable with a 4.4kWh electric motor, promising a range of 75km on a full charge. It can reach a top speed of 78km/h. In comparison, its rivals, the Bajaj Chetak and Ather 450, have a maximum speed of 60km/h and 80km/h, respectively. The iQube can accelerate from 0 to 40km/h in 4.2 seconds.

The TVS iQube comes with the next-generation TVS SmartXonnect platform, which includes a TFT instrument cluster and the TVS iQube app. This app offers features such as remote battery charge status, geo-fencing, last park location, navigation assistance, and incoming call/SMS alerts. The iQube also boasts U-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), an LED headlight and taillight, 12-inch wheels, and an illuminating electric logo near the motor.

During the investor call, KN Radhakrishnan also revealed that a new electric three-wheeler (e3W) is in development. This model will be ready for launch later this year, marking the first electric three-wheeler from the indigenous two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. It will be available in both domestic and other global markets. With an aim to support the development of these new models, TVS Motor Company will invest Rs 1100–1200 crore in fiscal year 2024–2025.
