Tata Motors has released the first teaser of the upcoming Altroz Racer, which is slated to go on sale in June 2024. The new sportier version of the premium hatchback will be positioned against the Hyundai i20 N Line and Maruti Suzuki Fronx Turbo. Similar to the standard Altroz, the Tata Altroz Racer will measure 3,990mm in length, 1,755mm in width, and 1,523mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,501mm. Compared to its rivals (i20 N Line and Fronx Turbo), it will be slightly shorter and narrower. However, all three models come with 16-inch wheels. Check Out – Tata Curvv Vs Nexon Dimensions Compared
The major highlight of the Tata Altroz Racer is its 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which makes a maximum power of 120bhp and 170Nm of torque. The motor will come only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai’s i20 N Line and Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx Turbo come with 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol and 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engines, delivering 120bhp and 172Nm, and 100bhp and 148Nm, respectively. This means the Altroz Racer will be as powerful as the Hyundai i20 N Line, though its torque will be lower than that of its rival.
On the exterior, the Tata Altroz Racer will feature a dual-tone color scheme with blacked-out wing mirrors, roof, and bonnet. There will be white racing stripes on the roof and bonnet, along with Altroz Racer badges. At the back, it will feature a new rear spoiler. Its interior layout and features will be exactly similar to the regular Altroz, but it will get an all-black interior theme with sporty red accents.
Prices of the Altroz Racer are yet to be announced, though it’s estimated to be priced from Rs 10 lakh onwards. Talking about its rivals, the manual variants of the Hyundai i20 N Line and Maruti Fronx Turbo are available within the price range of Rs 9.99 lakh – Rs 11.49 lakh and Rs 9.72 lakh – Rs 13.04 lakh, respectively. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom, India.
