Over two years ago, Tata Motors showcased the Avinya EV concept as part of the third phase of its future electrification plan. Based on the Born Electric platform (called Gen-3 EV architecture), the Avinya EV is designed to provide maximum cabin space. Speaking to a media publication, Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, announced that Tata’s first vehicle based on the born-electric skateboard platform will hit the market in late 2025. The Avinya will serve as a premium EV brand under which multiple new Tata EVs (mostly SUVs and MPVs) will share the same platform.
Srivatsa further revealed that “the entire Avinya range will sit at the higher end of Tata’s product portfolio.” The range will include some models that will overlap with existing Tata EVs, but the company does not have “hard and fast price differentiation.” The upcoming premium EVs under the Tata Avinya umbrella will be produced at the brand’s new facility in Tamil Nadu, which will be set up with an investment of Rs 9,000 crore over five years. This manufacturing plant might also serve as a production hub for Jaguar Land Rover EVs.
Details of the upcoming Tata Avinya EVs are not available at this time. However, we expect these vehicles to come with next-generation ADAS technology, ultrafast charging capabilities, OTA updates, a battery management system, and an integrated propulsion system. These EVs will offer an electric range of over 500 km and can be charged in less than 30 minutes.
Talking about the Avinya concept, the model has a minimalist interior theme with a slim screen integrated into the dashboard, a new steering wheel with an integrated screen for essential information and controls, and sustainable materials. The front of the EV concept features a uniquely designed grille, slim headlamps, a full-width LED light bar resembling a stretched-out ‘T’ logo, and a sporty splitter. It also has a bold shoulder crease running along its length towards the floating section of the taillight.
