Royal Enfield Classic 650 Bobber spotted testing

-New Bobber based on the Classic 650 platform

-Seen here with a removable pillion seat

-Likely powered by the Shotgun 650’s parallel-twin engine

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is expected to be launched in the coming months and the test mule has been spotted multiple times. However, a new Royal Enfield test bike has been snapped while being tested on Indian roads and it appears to be the Classic 650 Bobber. It might be called something else once it hits production but let’s just stick to Classic 650 Bobber, for now.

The test bike seen here bears some of the design elements that we’ve seen on the Classic 650, mainly the headlamp cowl, the teardrop shaped fuel tank and the side panels. The curved fenders are also similar to the Classic 650’s but that’s where the similarities end.

The Royal Enfield Classic 650 Bobber will get a single-piece seat, in true ‘Bobber’ fashion. However, as is seen on this test bike, there is a provision to fit a pillion seat as well. This will be a removable unit, similar to what we’ve seen in the case of the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650. In that bike, the seat can be attached or fit using tools and a few DIY steps.

The other difference between the Classic 650 and the Classic Bobber 650 is visible in the riding position. The footpeg is set slightly forward and the handlebar is within easy reach, for that relaxed rider’s position.

Mechanically, the bike should be the same as the Classic 650. It is expected to be powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin engine that should develop 47bhp and 52Nm. It is linked to a six-speed gearbox.

The hardware comprises a telescopic front fork, dual shock absorbers and a single disc at both ends. The bike rides on wire-spoke wheels and has tube-type tyres.

Expect the Classic 650 Bobber to be more of a lifestyle choice for buyers and sit in the vicinity of the Classic 650 when it comes to pricing.
