Renault currently offers three models in its Indian product lineup – the Kwid hatchback, the Kiger subcompact SUV, and the Triber compact SUV. Earlier this year, the company announced its plan to expand its product range with five new models in the next three years, including the new-generation Duster (available in both 5 and 7-seater configurations) and an EV. In a recent development, it has been revealed that the French automaker is preparing to introduce a sportier version of the Renault Kiger, possibly based on the top-end RXZ trim.
The new Renault Kiger sportier variant is expected to receive cosmetic enhancements over the regular model. While specific details are not yet available, it is likely to feature contrasting accents on body panels and brake calipers. Some changes to its front and rear bumpers are also anticipated, with reports suggesting that Renault’s new diamond logo might be incorporated into its design elements.
The interior theme of the sportier variant could also be enhanced to reflect its performance-oriented nature, possibly featuring contrast accents throughout. In terms of features, the new Renault Kiger sportier variant is expected to include all the amenities offered on the regular RXZ trim. This list comprises a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ambient lighting, a 4-speaker and 4-tweeter Arkamys audio system, a PM2.5 air filter, automatic climate control, driver’s side window auto up/down with anti-pinch function, a cooled lower glove box, power-folding ORVMs, LED headlamps, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a rear defogger.
The Kiger’s new sporty variant is likely to be exclusively equipped with the 1.0L turbo petrol engine, delivering a peak power output of 100bhp and 160Nm of torque. It could be offered with both a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox. It’s important to note that the torque figure of the turbo-petrol motor drops to 153Nm when paired with a CVT unit.
