4 Big SUV Launches From Tata In Coming Months

Tata Motors has an aggressive product strategy for the Indian market with a wide range of ICE (internal combustion engine) PVs and EVs across different segments and price ranges. The company’s upcoming lineup includes four major SUV models, namely, the Curvv EV and ICE-powered version, Harrier EV and Safari EV. Let’s take a closer look at these upcoming Tata SUVs.

Tata Curvv EV/ICE

Tata Curvv EV is all set to hit showrooms by mid 2024, while its petrol/diesel version is slated to go on sale during 2024 festive season. This coupe SUV will feature unique coupe-like roofline and high ground clearance creating a massive road presence. The model will carry Tata’s signature new LED headlamps with split setup, gloss black side cladding and split taillamps. Its dashboard design will be similar to the Nexon, while the four-spoke illuminated steering wheel will be sourced from the Harrier and Safari.

The new Tata SUV will have dual screen setup, a sunroof, a 360 degree camera, connected car features, a wireless charger and ventilated seats. The Curvv EV will be built on Tata’s new Acti.ev architecture and is expected to offer a range between 450km – 500km. Its ICE-version will mark debut of Tata’s all-new 125bhp, 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine and Nexon’s 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel motor. There are reports indicating that the Tata Curvv could also be offered with the CNG fuel option.

Tata Harrier EV/Safari EV

Tata Harrier EV and Safari EV launch is scheduled for the second half of 2024 (possibly around during Diwali season). Both models are expected to remain true their concepts, which were showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The electric SUVs will feature a new blanked-off grille, revised front bumper with new angular creases, redesigned central air intake with a blanked-off panel and blackened housing for headlamp clusters. The new ‘.EV’ badges on the flush door handles, fenders and wheels will highlight their electric nature. The rear of the Harrier EV and Safari EV will show a redesigned taillamp assembly with a new LED light bar running the width of the tailgate, revised bumper with new angular indents and body cladding in smoother finish.

Official specifications are yet to be revealed. Though, the Tata Harrier EV and Safari EV are expected to come with a 60kWh battery pack and offer a range of over 500km on a single charge. Tata has already confirmed that both electric SUVs will support vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. While the FWD setup will come as standard, the AWD layout will be an optional offering. When it comes to pricing, the Tata Safari EV is likely to cost between Rs 30 lakh – Rs 35 lakh and the Tata Harrier EV could be priced around Rs 24 lakh for the base variant and Rs 28 lakh for the top-end variant.
