KTM 790 Duke-based GasGas Supermoto and Enduro bikes spied

– Likely to be the ES 800 and SM 800 models

– Will use KTM’s 799cc, parallel-twin engine

Mysterious-looking test mules based on the KTM 790 Duke have been spied testing in Europe. The prototypes seem to be of the upcoming GasGas motorcycles expected to be launched soon in Europe.

The test prototypes are running on KTM’s 799cc, parallel-twin motor, while the headlamp unit is similar to the one on the CFMoto 800 NK. GasGas recently trademarked two model names in Europe, ES 800 and SM 800. The ES 800 could be the enduro motorcycle with a 19/17-inch wheels setup, while the SM 800 is expected to be a supermoto with 17-inch wheels at both ends.

Underneath the new bodywork, is the familiar Chromium-Molybdenum steel chassis that houses the 799cc, parallel-twin motor that makes 105bhp and 87Nm on the KTM 790 Duke. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Both motorcycles use KTM branded J.Juan brake callipers.

While the GasGas SM 800 looks like it can go under production immediately, the GasGas ES 800 seems far from production-ready. The large, unfinished radiator is a clear giveaway that it is still being tested. That said, both motorcycles are running on USD forks up front and a monoshock at the back. Meanwhile, the suspension travel will be higher on the enduro model.

What’s more, the enduro bike rides on dual-sport tyres, while the supermoto is seen running on road-biased rubber. The official European launch seems imminent, judging by the bodywork and cycle parts of these test mules.
