Volkswagen ID Buzz GTX: range, battery, performance

The range-topper ID Buzz GTX shares the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain with the ID7 GTX tourer and gets a boost of power from the standard 195hp to 330hp. The torque has also increased, with the Buzz GTX now putting out 560Nm, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100kph in 6.6 seconds. The towing capacity has also improved from 1,000-1,800kg.

The ID Buzz GTX with the shorter wheelbase gets a 79KWh battery (up from 77kWh), while the long wheelbase variant gets an 86KWh unit. The official range has not yet been disclosed, but it is estimated to have a range of 386-402km on a single charge. The smaller battery can be charged at rates of up to 185kW – 10-80 percent takes 25 minutes. The larger, 86kWh pack has a 200kW peak charge rate, which enables a 10-80 percent charge in under 30 minutes.

Volkswagen ID Buzz GTX: interior, exterior highlights

On the outside, the ID Buzz retains the retro-inspired design, although there are a few sporty changes that are appropriate for the GTX variant. It receives the GTX-style front bumper design, along with the ‘arrowhead’ LED daytime running headlights, a honeycomb grille and gloss black trim. It sports 19-inch wheels, with an option to upgrade to 21-inch alloys.

On the inside, the Buzz GTX features ‘comfort’ seats that have red stitching along with GTX lettering. It also comes equipped with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, which is shared with the ID3 GTX, and runs Volkswagen’s latest software. The long-wheelbase variants can be optioned with an electronically controlled panoramic sunroof, which is the largest sunroof in a Volkswagen vehicle.

For the Indian market, Volkswagen will bring the ID4 crossover in the near future and the brand is also working on affordable EVs for our market.
