As we are all aware, SAIC Motor and JSW Group recently announced their joint venture for the Indian market – JSW MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd. Under this new strategic partnership, the company aims to introduce a new model every 3 to 6 months, starting with an EV during the 2024 festive season. Indeed, the company has already commenced testing its upcoming new electric car, which will be based on the China-spec Baojun Yunduo. This same model is also retailed in the Indonesian market as the Wuling Cloud EV.
In India, the new MG EV is likely to be introduced as the MG Cloud EV. While the spotted test mule was heavily camouflaged, covering most of its design details, it’s expected to come with a similar set of features and design as seen in the Bajoun Yunduo/Wuling Cloud EV. The latter measures 4,295mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,652mm in height.
Inside, the MG Cloud EV will boast a large touchscreen infotainment system and an 8.8-inch full LCD instrument cluster, as seen in the spy images. With safety as a primary focus, the carmaker is likely to equip it with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), along with six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, front and rear parking cameras and sensors, rear seat belts, tire pressure monitoring, lane departure warning system, hill start assist control, and more.
Globally, the compact electric car is offered with two battery packs – 37.9 kWh and 50.6 kWh. The former promises a range of up to 360 km, while the latter offers 460 km. The MG Cloud EV will come with a regenerative braking system and will be equipped with ventilated disc brakes at the front and disc brakes at the rear. Suspension duties will be performed by McPherson Strut and a Multi-link rear unit.
